A Great Close-Up Show

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

Last weekend I had a bit of a nightmare gig, but last night’s was exactly the opposite.

It was a private party where I was booked to perform my small party close-up magic show (close-up magic performed to the whole audience together instead of mix and mingle style) and it went really well.

They were a very receptive audience and up for a good time. They even laughed at all my jokes!

Hanging on the Telephone

One thing about being a magician is you are always waiting for the phone to ring or an email to arrive with a new enquiry and a new job - which can significantly effect how good your day turns out. I suppose this is the same for anyone working for themselves.

The problem is, there is no rhyme or reason to it, one day you get loads of calls and emails and the next none. And the way they pan out is always different.

Sometimes people don’t sound interested, I follow them up and they are still not interested, then they call back a few weeks later and want to go ahead. Sometimes they just don’t want to go ahead (I think I prefer when they decide on the spot).

Other times people decide they want to go ahead straight away. Sometimes you get a few of these on the same day!

I’m not complaining, it’s just it would be great if everyday I got the same number of enquiries and the same number of positive results - then my moods wouldn’t be so up and down!
