Web promotion and Search Engine Optimisation page

I’ve finally finished writing up more detail on the [web promotion lecture->] I presented for my local magic club several weeks ago. It is on a new page, [web promotion and SEO->web-promo-seo] (Search Engine Optimisation).

I have more to add to these pages, such as a list of sites to get magic related links from and a list of general directories, but they’re not finished yet!

On Monday night I presented a lecture at the Leicester Magic Circle about promoting yourself on the internet. I talked mainly about having your own website and how to get people to visit it.

Keeping up with the Blog

OK, I’ve not been keeping up with the blogging but I’ve only just started - and no one’s reading this anyway, are you? It’s just for my own benefit really.

But I do have an excuse, we’re moving house this weekend so it’s all been a bit hectic. I’ll be glad when we get it all sorted out and can start putting our new home together. It does mean that I’m going to be without proper internet access for a bit while my adsl is moved. I’m going to have to use dialup which is going to take some getting used to.

I have fitted in a bit of work on promoting my website in the last week and found this useful tool, link harvester, which finds all the backlinks to your site from Yahoo and MSN search. The number of backlinks you have is a major factor in your search engine ranking and it’s useful to know which sites are linking to you, how they are linking to you and which links are search engine friendly (i.e. in the search engines indexes)
